The authors in this article explain that almost 1 million teens get pregnant every year, and according to this artice the causes for them getting pregnant are education faliure, proverty, unemployment, and low self esteem. Because teens are pregnant they drop out of school but on the other hand when teens are still enrolled in school and give birth, they graduate the same time as their classmates do. Seven out of 10 teenage mothers complete high school or earn a GED but are less likely to go to college. One in 8 births to US are teenage. US teen pregnancy is one of the highest in western world wide - 2x as England, France and Canada, 3x as Sweden, and 7x as high as the Dutch rate. A lot of people say that teenagers need to threefold meaning: 1. delaying sexual intercourse, 2. prevent pregnancy while sexually active, and 3. directed at ensuring the well-being of teens who become parents - avoid furthur pregnancies. People think that sex education puts teens in a higher risk of becoming sexually active but effective sexual education can decrease sexual activity. More than 40% of women in the US get pregnant before the age of 20. Studies say that girls who hae sex before 15 were victims of incest or other sexual abuse.
